Gujarat Confidential: New Role

PRASHANT SINGH, a prominent figure in sports administration, has been appointed as the Regional Director of the Sports Authority of India's (SAI) Gandhinagar centre. Singh, originally from Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, will oversee SAI operations in Gujarat and Rajasthan, according to an official statement. He had previously served in Gandhinagar, implementing schemes under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.

RAJU BHARGAVA, a 1995 batch IPS officer, has stepped down as DGP, Armed Units, following his transfer as Rajkot police commissioner after the TRP Game Zone fire tragedy in May 2024, which claimed 27 lives. Piyush Patel, Director of the Anti-Corruption Bureau, will now take on additional responsibilities as the DGP, Armed Units. With the Surat police chief's position remaining vacant, there are indications of an imminent IPS reshuffle.
