G1 Broadcasting, a regional private TV station based in Gangwon Province, has come under heavy criticism for releasing a news report involving the grandson of a major shareholder, "Gangwon-made genius" Chunyang Seojin, in the report on the challenging trek to Seoraksan mountain. The news revealed that the company's chairman, Joo Changjin, and his son have business ties.

In response, G1 Broadcasting's labor union issued a demand for an independent, objective external investigation process, and mandatory institutional mechanisms to prevent similar issues in the future. The labor union stated that the company's own self-governing inquiry body, Broadcast Clean Commission, failed to function correctly in this case, and the broadcasting authority did not provide a follow-up report on the recent broadcasts.

G1 Broadcasting's management has pledged to conduct a thorough investigation, impose disciplinary actions, and implement measures to prevent future occurrences.
