Former West Bengal chief minister Mamata’s niece found hanging at her home in Bengal

A tragic incident occurred in Rampurhat, Birbhum district, West Bengal, where Mamata Banerjee's niece, Bristi Mukhopadhyay, allegedly took her own life by hanging. Police confirmed that Bristi's body was discovered on the second floor of her residence in Kusumba village on Tuesday morning. Her father, Nihar Mukhopadhyay, revealed that Bristi had been grappling with mental health issues for the past five to six years, despite regular medical consultations.

Family members promptly reported the incident to the authorities, who arrived at the scene and secured Bristi's body for further examination. Meanwhile, the Rampurhat police are conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Bristi's death. Notably, Bristi's name appeared on a list of job cancellations published by the West Bengal Central School Service Commission following a High Court order, with allegations of corruption related to her employment in primary schools.

Additionally, Bristi's marriage had recently been disrupted by a divorce case involving her husband, and she is a mother of a 12-year-old child. Bristi's ancestral home is located in Chakaipur village, and her maternal uncle's residence in Kusumba village is in close proximity to the site where she met her untimely demise.
