Former gang member found guilty of murdering Tupac Shakur

A Las Vegas jury has convicted former gang leader Duane Keffe D Davis, 63, of murdering hip-hop artist Tupac Shakur, bringing closure to a decades-old cold case. Davis, who was charged with murder using a deadly weapon in Nevada's Clark County, pleaded not guilty. According to prosecutors, Davis masterminded the drive-by killing of Shakur, one of rap's most successful artists, in retaliation for the beating of Davis' nephew.

Shakur, 25, was killed on September 7, 1996, after Davis and three others, including his nephew, allegedly sought out Shakur and his entourage in a white Cadillac. Davis is a leader of the Southside Compton Crips, a gang that was feuding with Shakur's associated gang, Mob Piru. While Davis cannot be charged with firing the fatal shot, under Nevada law, he can still be held accountable for the murder.
