Danladi Bako, Quintessential Broadcaster at 69

Ayodele Williams Mallam Nasir Danladi Bako, PhD, OON, is a distinguished broadcaster and humanitarian who has made significant contributions to journalism and broadcasting across Nigeria. Born on September 1, 1957, in Sokoto, Kaduna and Kano, Bako pursued higher education in English at the School of Basic Studies, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and later obtained a Master of Science degree in Mass Communication from the University of Lagos.

His career in journalism began at Radio Nigeria, where he served as a studio manager, reporter, and continuity announcer before advancing to NTA Sokoto. Bako's notable achievements include creating and producing award-winning programs such as "Take a Chance," "Behind the Headlines," and "Softline." He was also instrumental in establishing the first Breakfast television program in Nigeria, "Morning Ride," and "MASTERSPORTS."

His dedication to his community and commitment to adding value to people's lives earned him the prestigious National Honour, Officer of the Order of the Niger, in 2006. Bako's accomplishments extend beyond broadcasting; he served as Senior Special Assistant to the Hon Minister of Youth and Sports, Director General of the National Broadcasting Commission, Commissioner for Information in Sokoto State, and Co-Director of the APC Presidential Campaign in 2023.

He has represented Nigeria at numerous national and international conferences and diplomatic missions. Bako's legacy as an astute communicator, thinker, and optimist continues to inspire, making him a true quintessential broadcaster at the age of 69.
