Daayra: Malayalam star Prithviraj Sukumaran faces off with Kareena Kapoor Khan in Bollywood return

Prithviraj Sukumaran, a renowned Malayalam actor, is set to make his Bollywood debut in the crime thriller Daayra, opposite Bollywood superstar Kareena Kapoor Khan. This marks Sukumaran's first major role in Hindi cinema and his second time appearing alongside Kapoor Khan, following their collaboration in the 2012 romantic comedy Aiyyaa.

Inspired by real-life events, Daayra revolves around two senior police officers, DCP Raman Kumar (played by Sukumaran) and Deputy Commissioner of Police Ajooni Kohli (played by Kapoor Khan), who find themselves on opposing sides of an investigation. The film delves into the complexities surrounding juvenile crime and a controversial police encounter, questioning the line between legal justice and public perception of justice.

The trailer, released recently, depicts a crime that triggers national outrage, setting two investigations in motion. While both officers work within the same system, their differing approaches gradually bring them into conflict. The film's screenplay, written by Yash Keswani, Sima Agarwal, and Meghna Gulzar, explores morally complex themes and presents a nuanced perspective on the criminal justice system.

Sukumaran praises the film's objectivity and his co-star Kapoor Khan as "an incredibly intelligent actor" whose presence made the experience even more enjoyable.
