Court ruled woman was murdered. Her family now fights corporation for her death certificate

Ashwini Bidre-Gore was murdered in 2016, but her family has been unable to obtain her death certificate for 17 months. The Executive Magistrate recently ordered civic authorities to issue her official death certificate, confirming her death based on a court judgment from April 2025. Despite this, the Panvel Municipal Corporation has not yet issued the certificate, leaving her family without the necessary documentation and denying them post-death benefits for their daughter, who is pursuing higher education.

The case against former inspector Abhay Kurundkar for Ashwini's murder remains pending before the Bombay High Court.
