Chelsea’s keeper Sanchez makes deadline-day move to Como

Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez has signed a one-year loan deal with Serie A club Como, the Italian outfit announced on Tuesday. The 28-year-old Englishman was expected to leave Stamford Bridge after Chelsea signed Argentina's first-choice goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez from Premier League rivals Aston Villa. Como 1907 expressed their delight at securing Sanchez's services, as the Spanish goalkeeper had struggled to make an impact during his time at Chelsea after joining from Brighton in 2023.

Following a 3-2 Premier League victory over Fulham, new manager Xabi Alonso opted to start Martinez in goal, who made his debut hours after signing. Coach Cesc Fabregas praised Sanchez's experience and skills, stating that he would be a valuable addition to Como's squad. The young Englishman will be reunited with former Chelsea center-back Trevoh Chalobah, who also joined the Italian club recently.

Como made another significant signing on deadline day by securing former Everton and Juventus striker Moise Kean on a year-long loan deal with an option to buy, with the eventual transfer fee potentially reaching €40 million.
