BBVA reordena su banca de inversión para acelerar el negocio corporativo

BBVA has restructured its investment banking division to accelerate corporate business growth. The bank has promoted four internal directors and expanded the responsibilities of another executive. These are the first structural changes following a major review of the board of directors at the end of July. BBVA has made another adjustment to its organigram, this time focusing on the global Investment and Corporate Banking division (CIB).

Internally, the bank has communicated four appointments across various sensitive areas of the investment business.

The bank has promoted four internal leaders and increased the role of a fifth executive who will have more weight in the CIB structure. The adjustments aim to reinforce the bank's focus on internal talent, with the goal of boosting the pace of commercial activity for the corporate business and strengthening the CIB structure for the future. This is the first reorganization of a global leadership team since BBVA's board review at the end of July, which preceded the announcement of first-half results.

Seven directors left the board, while ten new members were appointed. Roberto Albaladejo, who moved from the CIB area to assume group-wide responsibilities for Strategy, M&A, was named to the board. Marian Navarro, previously responsible for CIB in France, was appointed head of the Executive Presidency. Jaime Artola, who previously managed structured finance, now leads Sustainability, Industries & Cross Border (SIX) and BBVA Spark, the unit specializing in investment and support for high-potential companies, also known as startups.

Artola will connect sector specialization, sustainability, and cross-border activity, while reinforcing capabilities for disruptive companies.

With these changes, the executive assumes a seat on the CIB board, reporting directly to Javier Rodriguez Sor, global head of Investment Banking and Sustainability at BBVA. Rodriguez Sor reports directly to the CEO, Onur Gen. Susana de Pablo, who previously managed investment banking and sustainability for EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa), South America, and Turkey, now assumes the role previously held by Artola as global head of structured finance.

Meanwhile, Nicolas Allano has been appointed as the new head of investment banking in France, replacing Marian Navarro who will head the executive board of President Carlos Torres. Allano, who also joins the CIB board, will drive the bank's strategy in the French market, considered strategic within the group.

Allano's previous role as head of Equities is now held by Marc Fauvain, who continues to manage Equities for the Americas. To'o Ord�s assumes responsibility for global markets, reporting to Rodriguez Sor. Lastly, Gonzalo Romera broadens his role to include Strategic, Talent & Culture and Support for the business, incorporating Strategy and Digital Assets into his responsibilities.
