Avengers: Doomsday reshoots 3 months before release fuel cameo buzz, Jeremy Renner's Hawkeye might return

Marvel Studios has initiated a final round of reshoots on Avengers: Doomsday, igniting speculation among fans about a potential cameo by Jeremy Renner's Hawkeye. This development emerged when Winston Duke, who portrays M Baku, disclosed in an interview that additional filming was in progress. Shortly after, Renner shared an Instagram video of himself in Hawkeye's attire, accompanied by the character's theme music, which many interpret as a subtle indication that he may be involved in the new scenes.

The reason for these reshoots, scheduled just four months before the film's theatrical release, is limited time to incorporate fresh material into the final cut. Marvel appears to have strategically aligned these additional shoots with the onset of production on Avengers: Secret Wars, set to commence this September. Experts suggest that these reshoots are likely focused on integrating cameo appearances rather than altering the film's core storyline.

According to a reliable insider, Daniel Richtman, these additional scenes are primarily intended to feature cameos, with Renner's potential return fitting this narrative.

Jeremy Renner has a history with Disney, previously declining a role due to the offered salary being only half of his previous earnings. He expressed dissatisfaction, stating, "They offered me half the money. I’m like, ‘Well, it’s going to take me twice the amount of work for half the amount of money, and eight months of my time, essentially, to do it for half the amount.'"

Despite their falling-out, Renner has expressed willingness to reprise his role under the right conditions. A cameo in Doomsday, requiring considerably less time than a full season, would likely meet these criteria. Avengers: Doomsday is slated for release on December 18.
