Ashanti Police Command Arrests Six Suspected Members of Armed Robbery Syndicate

The Ashanti Regional Police Command has apprehended six suspected members and associates of an organized armed robbery syndicate active in Kumasi and surrounding areas, according to COP Arthur Akoto Osei, the Ashanti Regional Commander. The arrests occurred in August 2026, following intelligence-led operations targeting armed robbery and other violent crimes in the region.

The suspects, identified as Philip Nyarko (Kawawa), Hadi Samed (Toronto), Issahaku Musah (Isak), Suraj Mohammed (Baba Nde/Trouble), Hadi Abdul Majeed (Panie), and Foster Owusu Afriyie (Joe Fraizer), were apprehended through targeted operations. Exhibits recovered from their residences included a Kawasaki motorcycle, two machetes, an iPhone 13, and five keypad mobile phones believed to belong to robbery victims.

Investigations led to the arrest of Augustine Agyemang Duah, who is suspected of assisting the syndicate in unlocking stolen phones. Additional suspects, including Hadi Abdul Majeed, Hadi Samed, and Suraj Mohammed, were apprehended at different locations. The police are intensifying efforts to apprehend more suspects and are appealing to the public for information on the whereabouts of the arrested individuals.
