Angels Make More Front Office Moves Amid Hectic Season

The Angels have been making waves in their front office with a series of recent changes, just months after firing general manager Perry Minasian. John Mozeliak, who replaced Minasian, has been actively reshaping the organization. In a bid to streamline player acquisitions, the Angels have promoted Matt Swanson and Michael Lord to assistant general manager positions, giving the team a total of four assistant general managers.

Simultaneously, three scouts and special assistant Ray Montgomery were let go. Mozeliak explained that these moves aim to align the team's approach to player acquisitions. Swanson, who served as a senior advisor and scouting director with the Angels, will be overseeing amateur and professional scouting, while Lord, previously a senior director, will focus on research and development.

The team's significant front office shifts have prompted Mozeliak to assess the extent of department overhauls, particularly in R&D. Despite preseason farm system rankings placing the Angels at the lower end of the spectrum, the recent changes have propelled the team's status into the 10-20 range.
