Andreeva dismantles Tjen, eases into US Open second round

On Tuesday, 19-year-old Russian tennis player Mirra Andreeva secured her place in the second round of the U.S. Open by defeating unseeded Indonesian Janice Tjen with a score of 6-2, 6-2. This victory marks Andreeva's second Grand Slam title, following her French Open win earlier this year. Known for her power and precision, Andreeva demonstrated her skills on hard courts, as she had done during her mixed doubles semi-final run with Andrey Rublev last week.

After her win, Andreeva acknowledged the pressure of being a Grand Slam champion and the expectations that come with it. She mentioned working on her game and managing these expectations, aiming to continue her winning streak at the U.S. Open. Referring to her previous match with Tjen in Cincinnati, Andreeva noted the challenging conditions and the difficulty of playing against Tjen, who she considered not easy to play against.

In the second set, Andreeva increased her intensity and broke Tjen's serve, ultimately closing out the match after 31 minutes of play. Tjen's next opponent in the next round will be Germany's Eva Lys.
