Amin Adam challenges GoldBod’s GH¢5.45bn surplus

Former Finance Minister and Karaga Member of Parliament Dr Mohammed Amin Adam has called into question GoldBod's reported GH¢5.45 billion surplus for the 2025 financial year. Dr Amin Adam maintains that the figure does not accurately represent the trading performance of the organization. He pointed out that out of the reported surplus, GH¢4.54 billion, or 81.7 percent, was a government capital injection credited to GoldBod's books on December 30, 2025, just before the financial year ended.

Dr Amin Adam argued that this capital injection should not be presented as revenue and questioned the credibility of GoldBod's accounting practices. Of the remaining GH¢909.9 million, about GH¢827 million was fee income, mainly service charges paid to GoldBod by the Bank of Ghana for gold purchase operations. Dr Amin Adam noted that this fee income largely originated from a program that had cost the nation GH¢22 billion.

He emphasized the discrepancy between GoldBod reporting a surplus while the institution providing the funds experienced a substantial loss and urged for the 2025 accounts to be restated, excluding the GH¢4.54 billion capital injection from revenue.
