Manhattan, Kan. (AP) — Former Kansas State quarterback Collin Klein has taken the reins as the new head coach of Nicholls State. Klein's journey with the Wildcats began when Chris Klieman informed Gene Taylor that he was stepping down as head coach last December. Klein, who had previously served as Kansas State's offensive coordinator at Texas A&M, was an obvious choice for the position.

The Wildcats, who have qualified for a bowl game in each of Klieman's last five seasons, are set to face Nicholls State in their first game as a coached team. Klein, who nearly won a Heisman Trophy during his time at Kansas State, emphasizes that this transition is about the players and their success.
