A journey through Morocco, in Doha

The Dar Al Maghrib Pavilion at Doha’s Museum of Islamic Art Park offers visitors an immersive journey through Morocco’s history, traditions, and culture. Spread across 1,300 square meters, the pavilion features displays of ancient artifacts, traditional crafts, music, photography, film, and interactive exhibits. Upon entering, guests are drawn into the "Land of Confluence," where they explore Morocco’s position as a meeting point of Africa, Europe, and the Mediterranean.

Artefacts trace the country’s origins from early human settlements to successive civilizations, highlighting Morocco’s role as a crossroads of cultures. Notably, the pavilion includes remains of early Homo sapiens found at Jebel Irhoud and a Phoenician-style sphinx discovered at Lixus, dating back to the fourth to third centuries BC.

The pavilion then transitions to the "Land of Light," focusing on Morocco’s sensory heritage. A traditional courtyard introduces visitors to the country’s tangible and intangible traditions, with audiovisual displays showcasing landscapes, customs, and UNESCO-recognized sites. Traditional Moroccan crafts, clothing, musical instruments, and culinary demonstrations bring the country’s artistic heritage to life.

The "Land of Gathering" section emphasizes Morocco’s vibrant festival culture, including the centuries-old equestrian tradition of Fantasia. Visitors can experience the energy of these performances through photographs, video footage, and interactive displays. The pavilion also showcases Morocco’s football heritage, highlighting the country’s historic achievements, particularly its remarkable run in the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, where it became the first African and Arab team to reach the semi-finals.

This section resonates deeply with Qatar-based football fans, marking Morocco’s significant contribution to the global sports stage.
