Xi says China-Kyrgyzstan cooperation entering “golden period” of rapid development

Chinese President Xi Jinping declared that China-Kyrgyzstan cooperation has entered a "golden period" of rapid development as he arrived in Kyrgyzstan for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit 2026 and a state visit. President Sadyr Japarov and his wife were waiting for Xi and his wife Peng Liyuan at Manas International Airport.

In a written address, Xi expressed sincere greetings and best wishes for Japarov and the Kyrgyz people on behalf of the Chinese government and people. Xi highlighted the long-standing traditional friendship between China and Kyrgyzstan, pointing out that the towering Tianshan Mountains bear witness to centuries of friendly exchanges between their peoples.

Over the past 34 years since diplomatic relations were established, the China-Kyrgyzstan relationship has weathered changing international circumstances, maintained stable development, and achieved a comprehensive strategic partnership for a new era. In recent years, bilateral trade and people-to-people exchanges have reached unprecedented levels, with major projects like the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway successfully implemented, bringing significant benefits to both nations.

During his visit, Xi intends to engage in substantive discussions with Japarov on China-Kyrgyzstan relations, cooperation across various sectors, and shared international and regional concerns. He also aims to outline a new blueprint for a China-Kyrgyzstan community with a shared future. Xi expressed his eagerness to attend the SCO Bishkek Summit and collaborate with all parties to review the SCO's 25-year development experience, discuss cooperation plans, and drive the organization's future growth.
