Workers’ strike at Kenya’s main international airport leaves passengers stranded

A workers' strike at Kenya's main international airport in Nairobi is causing delays and cancellations, leaving numerous passengers stranded. The Kenya Airports Authority reported that some flights are experiencing delays. The strike involves the Kenya Aviation Workers Union, who are protesting unfair hiring practices, low pay, and proposed changes to airport management.

Union leader Moss Ndiema stated that talks with government representatives ended without an agreement. Kenya Airways and its subsidiary Jambojet have also reported extended flight delays. The union opposes the use of volunteers as airport staff, arguing it could compromise the role of trained workers. This isn't the first such strike; a similar one in February also stranded many passengers at this crucial transport hub.
