Waylaying of Keralam CM’s vehicle: court orders production of Chenthi Anil

On Monday, the Thiruvananthapuram First Class Magistrate Court ordered the production of Chenthi Anil, former Thiruvananthapuram District Congress Committee member, in connection with an alleged attempt to obstruct Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan's vehicle. The court set Tuesday as the date for the accused's appearance, scheduled for 11 a.m. The directive stems from a formal request by the police for the accused's custody to conduct further interrogation. The court will also consider the custody application on Tuesday.

In its remand application, the prosecution argued that Anil possessed political influence and might destroy or alter evidence if released on bail. Additionally, they expressed concern that Anil could flee the jurisdiction if granted bail. The police filed the additional charge of conspiracy under Section 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) following their examination of Anil's mobile phone. They suspect that the incident was part of a calculated plan to waylay the Chief Minister's convoy.
