Wandayi leads Ruto 2027 push in Siaya, calls for unity

Cabinet Secretary for Energy and Petroleum Opiyo Wandayi has urged residents of Siaya to support President William Ruto's re-election bid for 2027. Speaking at a thanksgiving service in Rarieda, Wandayi emphasized the importance of increasing voter registration and unity to strengthen the region's influence in national politics.

He challenged politicians to demonstrate their commitment to voter registration and warned that political support would be contingent on their contribution to expanding the electorate. Wandayi expressed confidence in the region's potential impact on the presidential election, stating that bolstering voter numbers was crucial for Siaya's influence.

He also praised President Ruto's development projects in the area and urged residents to back the President for his second term. Deputy Governor William Oduol echoed the call for voter registration, cautioning politicians seeking office to contribute to expanding the electorate. The Deputy Governor defended Ruto's administration's record in the region, referencing ongoing development projects.

Nyando MP Jared Okello called for a focused Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to ensure credible elections in 2027, emphasizing President Ruto's administration's achievements compared to previous governments.
