Vehicle of Miramshah assistant commissioner comes under fire

In Miramshah, North Waziristan, the official vehicle of Assistant Commissioner Abdul Qayum was targeted by unidentified gunmen on Sunday, police reported. The vehicle was en route from Miramshah to Bannu when it came under fire in the Hadi area of Mirali tehsil. Assistant Commissioner Qayum was not present in the vehicle at the time of the attack; however, his family members were onboard and emerged unscathed.

Police sources indicated that an investigation has been initiated to ascertain the firing's source and identify the perpetrators. Officials are also scrutinizing the incident's circumstances. This occurrence took place during a weekly curfew enforced in various North Waziristan regions as part of security protocols. During curfew hours, civilian movement is curtailed, and heightened security measures are in place along principal roads and sensitive zones.

The targeting of an official vehicle during curfew hours has given rise to significant security apprehensions, especially considering the vehicle transported members of the assistant commissioner's family.
