VCUarts Qatar welcomes record student enrolment for new academic year

Doha, Qatar - Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts in Qatar (VCUarts Qatar) has welcomed a record number of students for the 2026-27 academic year, marking an 8.35% increase over the previous fall. The university now enrolls 409 students, including 376 degree-seeking undergraduate and graduate students, and an additional 33 cross-registrants from other Education City institutions.

Dean Amir Berbić expressed delight at the surge in enrollment, attributing it to the growing interest in VCUarts Qatar's unique education and the impact artists, designers, and scholars can have on Qatar's and the region's future. The increasing numbers represent a diverse group of students, each bringing their own ideas and ambitions to the community.

New students kicked off their academic journey with an orientation program, culminating in a formal welcoming ceremony for the incoming Class of 2030. This academic year promises opportunities for interdisciplinary learning, research, creative practice, and engagement with visiting artists and scholars, as well as connections to a growing network of partners in Qatar and beyond.

Moreover, it marks a significant milestone as the first cohort of students in the BFA in Kinetic Imaging prepares to graduate in spring 2027. VCUarts Qatar offers undergraduate degrees in Art History, Graphic Design, Interior Design, Kinetic Imaging, and Painting + Printmaking, along with an MFA in Design.
