This sharp increase is primarily due to the inclusion of Filipina tennis star Alex Eala, who is ranked world No. 18 and a 17-seed in the tournament. Eala’s scheduled match on Louis Armstrong Stadium’s night session has driven ticket prices to nearly double what they were three days prior.

Alex Eala, a 2022 US Open juniors champion, has gained significant attention over the past year, largely due to her growing fan base of Filipinos living overseas. She has already achieved notable success, including winning the DC Open and defeating top-ranked players like Jessica Pegula and Iga Świątek. The surge in ticket prices does not align with the overall ticket price trend for the tournament, which has remained relatively stable at an average of $284 per day.

US Open officials, including new USTA CEO Craig Tiley, have acknowledged the rising resale ticket prices as one of the tournament’s biggest challenges. Despite the price hike, the grounds have been consistently packed throughout the tournament's Fan Week and the main draw’s first day. However, potential drops in ticket prices may occur if other top-ranked players such as Novak Djokovic, Carlos Alcaraz, or Jannik Sinner are eliminated early in the competition.
