Ultraman costume raises security alarm at Perak National Day celebrations

A man dressed as Ultraman was briefly detained by police during Perak's National Day celebrations after he was spotted in a restricted area near the main stage. The 40-year-old local man, who had a psychiatric history, was apprehended at around 5am on Monday, August 30, 2026, by officers who deemed his presence suspicious. Despite not causing any disturbance, he was taken into custody as a precaution to ensure the safety of the royal guests, including Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah and his consort, Tuanku Zara Salim.

The man will be referred to Hospital Bahagia Ulu Kinta in Tanjung Rambutan for assessment. The celebrations proceeded smoothly with 525 police officers deployed to manage security and traffic control. This incident echoes a similar event a year ago when a psychiatric patient threatened Sultan Nazrin during the state's National Day celebrations.
