Two women from Kerala were allegedly killed in Milpitas, California, by a "friend" resident of their apartment complex. The victims were Anjana Hari, 35, from Thrissur, and Ann Mathew, 40, from Thiruvananthapuram. The "friend", Anila, from Kottayam, has been taken into custody. The incident occurred on August 28 at 1:53 am in the 700 block of Linda Vista Street.
Anjana and Ann had attended Onam celebrations together just days prior to the murders. According to a relative, Anila killed Ann in the apartment's parking lot and later hit Anjana with her car. Police responded to the scene after receiving a report of a hit-and-run. Anila was subsequently arrested. Both women worked in the US, with Anjana moving there in 2021. Anjana is survived by her husband and their six-year-old daughter.
