Troops neutralise two notorious terrorist kingpins in Katsina

Troops of Operation Fansan Yamma, Sector 2, have eliminated two major terrorist leaders during a dawn operation in Katsina State, according to a statement by counter-terrorism expert Zagazola Makama on Monday. The mission was initiated following information about the hideout of key members of a terrorist network in Matazu Local Government Area.

After identifying the location, the troops confronted the terrorists using superior firepower, leading to the neutralisation of Hamisu, alias Mamiyo, a prominent gunrunner and second-in-command to terrorist commander Kachalla Muhammadu Filani, and Umar Bocho, a high-ranking lieutenant within the same group. Kachalla Muhammadu Filani, the group's leader, was injured severely with gunshot wounds.

The troops also seized and destroyed two motorcycles belonging to the terrorists. Security agencies are now stepping up efforts to locate the wounded leader and the remaining fugitives. The public, especially residents and medical staff in the Matazu area, are advised to report any individuals seeking treatment for gunshot wounds to the nearest security agency.

The operation is ongoing as troops conduct clearance and mop-up activities to ensure the area is secure.
