Touchline ban reduced for Rangers manager McInnes

Rangers manager Derek McInnes has had his touchline ban reduced to two games, with two games suspended, after an appeal against his punishment for comments made during a television interview following a Celtic penalty. McInnes, 55, will be in the stands for Rangers' upcoming matches against Falkirk and Motherwell, as well as their rescheduled visit from St Mirren on September 9.

The original four-match touchline ban, which included one suspended game, was issued in July following remarks McInnes made about a late penalty awarded to Celtic in a match against Motherwell in May. Rangers argued that McInnes's comments were directed at the decision, not officials, when they contested the ban. McInnes stated that he never intended to make the ban personal and that his comments were controlled.

Scottish FA head of referees Willie Collum backed the original decision, citing clear evidence of handball by Motherwell's Sam Nicholson during the stoppage-time penalty.
