Thai BBQ restaurant hides free meal coupons, sparking village-wide hunt

Kamphaeng Phet — Dozens of people have been searching bushes, trees, and rice fields in a Kamphaeng Phet district for hidden coupons that grant free Thai BBQ meals valued at 500 baht each. The promotion by Leng Moo Krata Sai Ngam restaurant has captured national attention, with a video of the hunt garnering over 2.5 million views in just 24 hours. The restaurant launched the giveaway to mark its 20th anniversary, with the goal of distributing 300 coupons totaling more than 150,000 baht.

At least 5 to 10 coupons are hidden daily across Sai Ngam district and surrounding areas. Hunters of all ages, from children to adults, have been scouring locations relentlessly, some even taking paid time off work to participate. Clues to the hidden coupons are posted on the restaurant's social media page, prompting participants to use keen observation skills to track them down.

Rainfall has not deterred some from joining the hunt. Veerapol Watthanaphan, a 21-year-old resident of Sai Ngam, has already found three coupons since the promotion began and plans to continue until the end.

Restaurant owner Samart Kletjeen, 39, was taken aback by the public's enthusiasm. He initially hid the coupons in easily accessible spots, but the hunt quickly grew in popularity, leading him to hide them in more challenging locations. Kletjeen has also received offers from others eager to contribute more coupons, yet the restaurant is resolute in its promise to hand out 300 coupons. The promotion is ongoing, and the restaurant encourages anyone interested to join the search.
