Texas Rangers put relievers Cole Winn and Peyton Gray on 15-day injured list

The Texas Rangers announced on Monday that they placed relievers Cole Winn and Peyton Gray on the 15-day injured list ahead of their game against the Athletics. Winn, a right-handed pitcher, has been diagnosed with a rotator cuff strain, causing him to miss 53 appearances this season. He allowed two runs in 1 1/3 innings during his most recent outing against the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday.

Gray, also a right-handed reliever, is dealing with elbow inflammation and has been placed on the injured list retroactively from Sunday. He surrendered two runs in a single inning during a game against Milwaukee on Saturday. Gray has pitched in 48 games this season.

As a response to the injury situation, the Rangers recalled left-handed reliever Robby Ahlstrom and right-handed reliever Ben Peoples from their Triple-A affiliate, Round Rock. Ahlstrom, who has a 3-1 record with a 6.03 ERA, appeared for Texas last Wednesday in a game against Chicago, allowing five runs in one inning. Peoples, on the other hand, has a 0-1 record with a 2.51 ERA after pitching 14 1/3 innings in 14 games since being traded to Texas by the White Sox on June 30.
