Texans Double Down After Cutting Fan Favorite From Roster in ‘Surprise’ Move

The Houston Texans made two surprising roster moves at the cutdown deadline, waiving fan favorite rookie wide receiver Lewis Bond and running back Jawhar Jordan. Lewis Bond had a good preseason but the Texans said there were too many good wide receivers in the room. Jordan, who recovered from a hip flexor strain, was also waived despite being healthy.

The Texans may be able to bring both back on the practice squad, but that requires one or both players clearing waivers. The Texans already waived multiple day 3 draft picks in the last three years and have never lost them to waivers. As it stands, the Texans' running backs are starter David Montgomery, backup Woody Marks, and part-time fullback British Brooks, but this is expected to change.
