이명박, 정점식에 “숫자로는 도저히 안 돼…국민 보고 투쟁하라”

Former President 이명박 met with 정 원내, an inside representative of the National Federation of Korean Citizens' Power, to discuss the role of the party within the government. 정 원내 stated that the party's role within the government is more crucial than its role as a political opposition. During the meeting, 정 원내 also expressed his gratitude to the former president for helping his party during the recent local elections, which were particularly challenging for the party.

The two leaders discussed for approximately 45 minutes, during which 정 원내 explained that the former president emphasized the importance of party unity for winning the 2028 general election. 정 원내 reiterated that politics should be conducted in the interest of the nation's citizens and that the opposition, even as a minority party, must resist the ambitions of the 이재명 government.

When asked about the significance of this focus on internal party disputes, 정 원내 reiterated that discussing the party's internal affairs is equally important and that the nation's citizens deserve to see the opposition stand up to the 이재명 government. This meeting was the sixth time that 정 원내 had met with a former president, following his request for a meeting with 박근혜 in the previous week.
