Soybeans Posting Modest Monday Gains

Soybeans experienced modest gains on Monday, with prices rising by 2 to 3 cents at midday. The national average Cash Bean price reached $12.53 3/4, while Soymeal futures declined by $2.80. Soy Oil prices increased by 6 points. No delivery notices were reported for September beans, with 261 deliveries for September meal and 800 for September bean oil.

The USDA reported a private export sale of 159,000 metric tons (MT) of 2026/27 beans to an undisclosed destination. According to USDA's FGIS, soybean export shipments totaled 250,801 MT during the week ending on August 27, a 41.7% decrease from the previous week and a 49% drop compared to the same period last year.

Mexico received the largest share, with 53,896 MT, followed by Algeria (43,299 MT) and Egypt (42,394 MT). Marketing year exports for 2025/26 are projected at 40.744 MMT (1.497 bbu), which is 18.2% lower than the same period last year. The Commitment of Traders data from the CFTC indicated that managed money increased their net long position in soybeans by 46,592 contracts during the week ending on August 25, raising the net long to 198,254 contracts.
