Sewa kereta kepada Rohingya, 34 pemilik di Kelantan didenda RM34,000

In Kelantan, 34 car owners were brought before the court for various violations, including renting out vehicles to Rohingya migrants without a valid driving license, according to the state's Road Transport Department (JPJ) chief Misuari Abdullah. The move is part of efforts to strengthen enforcement against local owners who allow individuals without a valid license to use their vehicles.

Since last June, 34 cases involving car owners being sued have resulted in a total fine of RM34,000, according to The Star. Recently, JPJ Kelantan reported identifying a new tactic by Rohingya migrants to rent out vehicles from locals, including attractive models for daily use. The vehicles are rented at rates ranging from RM50 to RM500 per month.

Before this, Abdullah stated that 85% of the offenders caught under the operation for transporting foreign nationals (Ops PEWA) in Kelantan from January to June were Rohingya. Of the 180 vehicles inspected during the operation, 105 were seized and 201 notices were issued for 439 violations. The worst offense was 210 cases of driving without a valid license, followed by 105 cases of misuse of road tax. Abdullah advised the public against profiting from vehicle rental as they could face strict action.
