SC refuses to intervene in CJP's Sept march

The Supreme Court of India has declined to intervene in the call for a protest march organized by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) on September 5 in Delhi. The three-member bench, headed by Chief Justice of India (CJI) Surya Kant, issued a notice to the Centre and Delhi Police regarding the application related to the protest march.

CJI Kant expressed confidence that all participants would act responsibly, peacefully, and lawfully, but emphasized that the court would intervene only if there were compelling circumstances suggesting otherwise. The bench decided not to list the application before the expected date of September 5, instead urging the petitioner to address his grievances with the Central government.

The protest is scheduled to march from India Gate to the Delhi Police Headquarters, criticizing the Central government for failing to fulfill assurances made on July 25, particularly concerning the withdrawal of cases against protestors. CJI Kant urged both sides to respect and honor the law. The CJP has called for a peaceful march and indicated that the police will have the discretion to determine what is illegal and what is permissible.

The petitioner's lawyer mentioned that the march coincides with the 18th BRICS Summit, which will feature international dignitaries.
