Rayong mom asks police to arrest son over alleged cannabis use

A mother living in Rayong province has shared video footage showing her son and his friends allegedly meeting at her residence to consume cannabis, and she is urging the police to arrest them all, including her own child. The 36-year-old woman, whose identity remains undisclosed, claims she had previously cautioned the young individuals to cease their activities but they persisted in arriving at her home via motorcycles and smoking cannabis at night.

This incident occurred at a residence located in Village 12, Bang But subdistrict, within Ban Khai district of Rayong province. Orathai explained that the group, comprising both school-going and non-school-going youths, frequently gathered at this house to partake in cannabis use. The odor from the substance reportedly permeated the entire home, causing a disturbance.

She revealed that she had reached her breaking point after her repeated warnings were ignored, leading her to record the group on her mobile phone and post the footage on social media to garner the attention of the local police. According to Orathai, the youths frequently exhibited signs of drowsiness and disorientation following their cannabis consumption.

Additionally, she alleged that her son, on some occasions, displayed irritability and engaged in self-harm. Rather than protecting her son, Orathai emphasized her desire for the police to arrest and prosecute him, along with all his friends, in accordance with her request. Police Chief Pol Col Pramot Kongkalai has directed his investigators to conduct an inspection of the house following the complaint.

As a result of the complaint, the police have seized cannabis and smoking paraphernalia from the property as evidence and are pursuing legal action against Orathai's son and his friends, as requested by the mother.
