Ravens sign K Jake Moody to practice squad

The Baltimore Ravens have bolstered their kicking options by signing former third-round pick Jake Moody to their practice squad. The 26-year-old kicker, who had been with the Washington Commanders since midway through last season, was let go by the team in mid-August after Drew Stevens claimed the team's kicking competition. Despite a solid start to his first season with the 49ers, where he made 21-of-25 field goals and 60-of-61 extra points, Moody's performance declined throughout 2024 as he managed to hit only 70.6 percent of his field goals.

His struggles became evident when he missed two crucial kicks during San Francisco's season opener last year, leading to his release from the 49ers. Moody briefly joined the Chicago Bears, where he managed to contribute with 8-of-9 field goals and 3-of-3 extra points in just two games, stepping in for an injured Cairo Santos. He then signed with the Washington Commanders, where he had a more successful stint, making 10-of-11 field goals and 10-of-11 extra points in six games.

However, it was in the 2023 regular season finale that Loop missed a crucial 44-yard attempt, which would have secured the AFC North title and a playoff berth against the Pittsburgh Steelers. In his brief return to the Baltimore roster, Loop missed two long field goals during the preseason finale, with a 58-yard and a 51-yard attempt each finding the left upright.
