Rainwater Leaks From New Terminal At Jabalpur's Dumna Airport, Passengers Face Inconvenience | VIDEO

A video circulating on social media has revealed rainwater leaking from the new terminal building at Jabalpur Dumna Airport in Madhya Pradesh, sparking concerns about the airport's management and infrastructure. According to reports, the leakage occurred from the canopy of the new terminal, which was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 10, 2024, as part of a ₹450 crore modernisation project.

Upon noticing the wet and slippery floor near the entrance, airport authorities decided to temporarily close the main gate for safety reasons and redirected passengers to use another gate. A warning board with the inscription "Wet floor, walk carefully" was placed near the main entrance to prevent any accidents.

Travelers faced inconvenience while entering and leaving the terminal due to the rainwater leakage, highlighting potential issues with the airport's management and infrastructure. The canopy, which was designed to collect rainwater, appears to have accumulated water, leading to the leakage.

Airport officials have stated that they are currently working on repairing the canopy, which was constructed as part of the modernisation project. However, investigations have already begun into the collapse of a portion of the fabric canopy in June 2024. Actions against NKG Infrastructure Limited, the company awarded the contract for the airport modernisation, are also being considered at the headquarters level.

The new terminal building itself covers an area of approximately 1.15 lakh square feet and includes the Air Traffic Control tower and fire station. The airport modernisation project, which has faced challenges, has not been without its setbacks, as the same issue of water accumulation and leakage has resurfaced during another spell of rain.
