QAS welcomes students in a new building

Qatar Academy Sidra (QAS), a part of Qatar Foundation’s Pre-University Education (PUE), has recently relocated to a brand-new building, accommodating over 1,100 students for the current academic year. QAS director Mirna Raslan expressed that the transition to their new premises is a significant step in the academy’s journey, signifying a new phase of growth and ambition.

The modern building is tailored to accommodate the academy’s growth, providing an integrated learning environment for students ranging from three years old to secondary school. It boasts a capacity of around 1,800 students, with approximately 1,100 currently enrolled.

Raslan emphasized that the building's design supports the academy's long-term growth while preserving the quality of education and individual attention given to each student. The new structure offers flexible learning spaces, sports facilities, collaborative areas, and environments that facilitate active, inquiry-based learning – core elements of International Baccalaureate programmes.

Raslan highlighted that the building itself has become an integral part of the learning experience, providing teachers with more flexibility to design interactive and hands-on learning experiences, fostering interdisciplinary projects, and connecting learning to the real world. Incorporating natural light and energy-efficient solutions, the building aims to create a comfortable environment where students feel a strong sense of belonging, ultimately impacting their learning experience, well-being, and confidence.

Raslan shared her thoughts on the students entering the building for the first time, envisioning the opportunities, dreams, and memories that will be made in the years to come. She stressed that the building is more than just walls and spaces; it is a place where future success stories will take shape. Beyond its facilities, the new building supports QAS's vision of nurturing confident and creative students who can positively impact society.

Raslan reiterated that the academy aims to foster a strong sense of community in its new home, ensuring every student, staff member, and parent feels a sense of belonging. She expressed hope that the first year will establish a strong culture in their new environment, where learning, passion, curiosity, and creativity come together.
