POCACOV takes anti-cultism campaign to Ogun youths, secures pledge against vices

The Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices, known as POCACOV, has embarked on an anti-cultism campaign targeting Ogun State youths. The initiative took place at the Royal Ambassador Ogun Baptist Conference, Ephphatha 2026, where hundreds of teenagers and young adults engaged in a program led by ASP Oluborode Opeyemi, the State POCACOV Coordinator.

This effort aligns with Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu's vision to enhance preventive policing through targeted outreach to young people. The program aims to equip Nigerian youths with the necessary knowledge to resist various vices, including cultism, drug abuse, cybercrime, and gang violence. ASP Opeyemi's team highlighted the detrimental effects of these activities on promising futures and community peace.

Real-life examples were shared to illustrate how young people's ambitions have been cut short by these vices. Participants were encouraged to adopt self-discipline, positive peer influence, and personal accountability. The attendees pledged collectively to avoid cultism, drug abuse, cybercrime, and other social vices, with the goal of promoting moral leadership in their communities.

This campaign is part of POCACOV's broader mission to foster community policing and preventive education for young Nigerians.
