PM Shehbaz leaves for three-day visit to Kyrgyzstan for SCO summit

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif embarked on a three-day official visit to Kyrgyzstan from August 31 to September 2, attending the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Council of Heads of State meeting. The Prime Minister’s Office announced his departure via a post on social media platform X, stating that he would address the SCO summit and "present Pakistan's stance on various regional and global issues."

Commerce Jam Kamal Khan, Minister of Communications Abdul Aleem Khan, and Minister of Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar joined the prime minister during the visit. The Foreign Office also issued a statement on the visit, highlighting his participation in the SCO Council of Heads of State meeting, bilateral engagements, and the opening ceremony of the World Nomad Games.

On September 2, the prime minister will hold bilateral discussions with the Kyrgyz president to review Pakistan-Kyrgyzstan relations and discuss cooperation in trade, investment, energy, regional connectivity, education, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges. The visit comes as Pakistan assumes the chairmanship of the SCO's Council of Heads of State, which will host the next CHS summit in Islamabad.
