Petrol price hiked by 77 paise, HSD’s cut by Rs1.03

Islamabad witnessed a significant fuel price adjustment on Friday, September 1, 2026, as the government responded to the escalating global crude oil prices. The changes came into effect, affecting the cost of petrol and High-Speed Diesel (HSD) for consumers.

The price of petrol saw an increase of 77 paise, now standing at Rs342.79 per litre, up from the previous rate of Rs342.02. Meanwhile, HSD experienced a reduction of Rs1.03, now at Rs370.41 per litre, down from Rs371.42.

To promote transparency and enable quicker dissemination of market fluctuations to consumers, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) announced that they would now publish daily petroleum rates on their official website. This move aims to provide real-time information to motorists and businesses alike.

The dealer's margins for both petrol and HSD were set at Rs9.98 per litre, ensuring a steady revenue for fuel vendors. Additionally, petroleum levy, customs duty, and climate support levy for both fuels remained unchanged at Rs80 per litre, Rs20.65 per litre, and Rs5 per litre respectively.

Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) were also informed that their margins would remain unchanged at Rs7.87 across both products. These adjustments were made while maintaining the existing customs duty, climate support levy, and petroleum levy for both petrol and HSD, ensuring a consistent pricing structure for consumers.
