Patriots star defender makes bold prediction on Christian Gonzalez

New England Patriots defensive tackle Milton Williams has made a confident prediction regarding the contract negotiations between the team and cornerback Christian Gonzalez. Despite the surrounding speculation, Williams remains optimistic that a deal will be reached in the end. He also believes that Gonzalez is entitled to be among the highest-paid cornerbacks in the NFL.

According to Williams, who spoke on Jones & Keefe, "100 percent, I feel like it’s gonna happen. I feel like they’re just kind of talking through the details." Williams added that "Any team in this league would want him. He definitely worth it."

Gonzalez, a Pro Bowler and previous All-Pro cornerback, has been engaged in contract talks with the Patriots throughout the summer. There had been hopes that a deal could be finalized quickly after the Seattle Seahawks signed Devon Witherspoon to an impressive contract, which should have served as a benchmark for the negotiations between the Patriots and Gonzalez.

However, the two parties have yet to come to an agreement on an extension as the regular season opener against the Seattle Seahawks approaches in less than a week. While NFL deals can be finalized swiftly, the Patriots are hopeful that the negotiations with Gonzalez will conclude similarly.
