Pak Suzuki makes first export of Japanese-spec mini-vehicles to Brunei

Pakistan's auto industry achieved a significant export milestone when Suzuki, through its Pakistani subsidiary Pak Suzuki Motor Company, launched the Alto and Every models in Brunei on August 27th. This marks the first time Suzuki has exported from an overseas production base vehicles with the same body size and engine displacement as its Japanese counterparts, according to the Japanese auto giant.

The introduction of these models expands Suzuki's automotive lineup in Brunei's market. Boustead has been appointed to handle Suzuki motorcycles, with sales set to begin around autumn 2026. Pak Suzuki Motor Company, established in Pakistan in 1983 as a joint venture between Pakistan Automobile Corporation Limited and Suzuki Motor Corporation, Japan, has been the local assembler, manufacturer, and marketer of various Suzuki vehicles, including cars, pickups, vans, 4x4s, and motorcycles, along with their spare parts.

The brand originated in Japan and has held a dominant position in the Pakistani market, often commanding over 50% of the passenger car segment. PSMC has maintained a strong presence with its nationwide network of 175 dealerships across more than 100 cities. Despite operational challenges in 2023, such as import restrictions causing inventory shortages and plant shutdowns, Suzuki Motor Corporation remains committed to the Pakistani market, noting its importance as one of its key markets globally and its continued investment.
