Over 60,000 Bauchi PDP Supporters Defect to PRP, Back Shehu Buba

In Bauchi State, a significant number of over 60,000 supporters from the PDP have shifted allegiance to the PRP, expressing dissatisfaction with the current administration. Under the leadership of Hon. Umar Farouk, who addressed the event held at the MHWUN Complex, the defectors pledged their support for Senator Shehu Buba Umar.

Farouk cited unmet campaign pledges, insufficient empowerment initiatives, and neglect of youth and community concerns as the primary reasons for the defection. He affirmed their belief in Senator Buba's commitment to grassroots welfare and his direct involvement in community engagement. Senator Buba, the PRP gubernatorial candidate and Deputy Chairman of the Senate Committee on Culture and Tourism, was represented by his deputy, Hon.

Tijjani Aliyu Madangala, who hailed the defection as a sign of victory ahead of the 2027 general election. Madangala assured the defectors of equal treatment and pledged collective efforts to secure PRP's success in upcoming elections. The political leaders at the event emphasized the importance of youth involvement in economic independence through vocational skills, education, and entrepreneurship.

This mass defection is anticipated to lead to additional shifts in the state's political landscape as parties ramp up their preparations for the 2027 polls, with the formal reintegration of the defectors concluded.
