Nine more traitors who fought against Ukraine on eastern front sentenced to 15 years each

Nine individuals accused of betraying Ukraine on the Eastern Front have been sentenced to 15 years in prison, according to prosecutors. The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) stated that the defendants were apprehended by Ukrainian forces during combat operations in Pokrovsk and Kramatorsk regions. One of the convicted individuals, a resident of the region temporarily occupied by Russian forces, served in the Russian army's 132nd Motorized Rifle Brigade as a sniper and grenade launcher operator.

He participated in assaults on Ukrainian defense positions near Pokrovsk and was subsequently captured.

Another convict, a Makiivka resident, had previously joined an armed group under the Russian Southern Military District in 2018 and was given the alias "Yakut." He was later assigned as a driver-mechanic in a Russian air defense platoon and took part in attacks by Russian storm groups on Ukrainian positions in Pokrovsk district.

Additionally, a repeat offender from Adygea region in Russia, who had previously served a sentence there, was found guilty for joining the Russian assault unit "Storm-V" after signing a contract with the Russian defense ministry. He was subsequently sent to attack Ukrainian defenses near Volodymyrivka and was captured.

Four more defendants, all residents of temporarily occupied parts of Donetsk region, were sentenced. They had either joined Russian armed groups voluntarily or were mobilized into the Russian army's ranks. The SBU and prosecutors found them guilty under high treason and collaboration activity according to Articles 111 and 111-1, Part 7 of Ukraine's Criminal Code.

The investigation was conducted in collaboration with SBU directors in Donetsk and Luhansk regions, under the guidance of the Donetsk regional prosecutor's office.
