Newcastle close in on £55m deal for Fernandez-Pardo

Newcastle United have secured a £55 million deal to sign Belgium forward Matias Fernandez-Pardo from Lille. The 21-year-old made the move to Tyneside on Monday to undergo a medical and officially sign a long-term contract with the Premier League club. Fernandez-Pardo expressed his excitement about joining Newcastle, praising the club's atmosphere and expressing his desire to progress his career with the team.

The young forward had been a target of Newcastle since the time of former head coach Eddie Howe, and his impressive statistics last season, ranking in the top positions for big chances, touches in the box, shots on target, and goals/assists, have only added to the allure of his arrival. Lille head coach Matthias Jaissle commended Fernandez-Pardo's technical skills, explosiveness, and ability to score and assist, stating that they are confident Newcastle supporters will thoroughly enjoy watching him play.

Jaissle further emphasized that the club will work closely with Fernandez-Pardo to continue developing his game and ensure they make the most of his talents.
