New York Liberty lead the WNBA with 7 players headed to the FIBA World Cup

As the WNBA takes a break before the FIBA World Cup starts in Berlin, the New York Liberty currently have the most players representing their countries, with seven Liberty players heading to Germany. This international roster includes players from France, Nigeria, China, Germany, Australia, Spain, the Bahamas, and the United States.

Liberty star Breanna Stewart notes that the team feels like the United Nations, reflecting the diverse backgrounds of its players. Rebecca Allen, the longest tenured member, mentions that this diversity was not as evident when she joined the team in 2015. Rookie Pauline Astier, who will play for France at the World Cup alongside teammate Marine Johannes, praises the welcoming atmosphere among teammates.

The Liberty could organize a fun international potluck when they return from the tournament. Other WNBA teams ranked in the power poll include Golden State, Golden State, Atlanta, Indiana, New York, Dallas, Washington, Portland, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Chicago, Connecticut, Seattle, and Toronto. Golden State's Veronica Burton was named the AP player of the week for her impressive performance in four road games.
