NDC mourns Western Regional Elections Director Papa Assan

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has mourned the passing of its Western Regional Elections Director, Comrade Papa Assan. He passed away on Sunday, August 30, 2026, after a brief illness at the GPHA Hospital in Takoradi. A statement released by the Regional Communications Officer, Richard Kirk-Mensah, described his death as a significant loss, especially to the Western Region.

There, Papa Assan had served as Regional Elections Director since 2014. The NDC highlighted his commitment and effectiveness in election administration, which played a crucial role in the party's strong performance in the 2024 general election. During his tenure, the party secured 15 out of the 17 parliamentary seats in the region.

The statement emphasized that Papa Assan served with dedication, commitment, and unwavering loyalty throughout his years of service to the party. In commemoration of his memory, the NDC has instructed that all NDC flags should be flown at half-mast for three days. Condolences were extended to his family, friends, colleagues, and party members, and prayers were offered for the peaceful repose of his soul.
