National Cycling Federation hails decision by Sports Ministry, NSC to support Azizulhasni’s LA28 aspirations

The Malaysian National Cycling Federation (MNCF) has commended the Youth and Sports Ministry (KBS) and the National Sports Council (NSC) for their support in enabling Datuk Mohd Azizulhasni Awang to spearhead the nation's pursuit of qualification for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games (LA28). MNCF President Datuk Amarjit Singh Gill stated that the decision has provided much-needed clarity, allowing Azizulhasni to concentrate fully on the challenging Olympic qualifying campaign.

MNCF had already initiated in-depth preparations for the LA28 qualification pathway for keirin and sprint events prior to this decision, held discussions with NSC in July regarding qualification requirements, and officially communicated its support to the Youth and Sports Minister and NSC on August 10. The NSC's letter on August 30 further confirmed its backing, with the Youth and Sports Minister directing the NSC to maintain the continuity of the national track cyclists' qualification process for LA28.

Amarjit emphasized Azizulhasni's experience, commitment, and champion mentality, reiterating that the road to LA28 would necessitate a concerted effort and require the best possible preparations for Malaysia's challenge in the Games.
