Nashik Police Expand ‘One Mobile’ Patrol Vans To Schools, Markets And Night Hotspots

Nashik: The Nashik City Police's 'One Mobile' patrol vans, initially launched on August 15, are now being extended to cover schools, colleges, busy market lanes, residential areas after dark, and ghat regions. This expansion comes following suggestions received from citizens, mainly the younger population, through online platforms.

Presently, nine vans are in operation as part of this initiative, which is overseen by Police Commissioner Sandeep Karnik. These vans rotate through two shifts, patrolling 108 designated spots each day for roughly two hours at a time. While it may not be feasible to visit each suggested location every day, all feedback is being documented and will be taken into account as the program grows.

The purpose of these vans is to augment the work of existing beat marshals and police control room patrols. They are particularly useful in situations requiring swift response to serious crimes, large gatherings, and emergencies. Additionally, they serve as mobile surveillance stations during significant events such as the upcoming Simhastha Kumbh Mela.

Each van is staffed by a police officer, three male officers, and one female officer. They are equipped with advanced technology including 360-degree CCTV cameras, powerful floodlights, 1 TB storage, binoculars, walkie-talkies, megaphones, stretchers, searchlights, first-aid kits, and more. An elevated upper deck enables them to keep an eye on crowds from a higher perspective.

Residents are invited to communicate their suggestions to the Police Commissioner via WhatsApp (9923323311) or by leaving comments with additional locations they believe should be included in the patrol route. The police have made it clear that they are actively listening to these suggestions.
